DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown in Stamford: What to Know First

DuraFlex chimney cap and crown work in Stamford typically runs $240-$680 for cap replacement and $450-$1,100 for crown repair or coating, depending on flue count and crown condition. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, not a factory arm, which means we can source either OEM or equivalent-quality aftermarket parts and show you the difference in writing before anything gets ordered. Most DuraFlex cap and crown jobs in Stamford are completed in one visit, and we hand you a photo record of the finished work before we leave.

This page is for homeowners who already know they have a DuraFlex setup, or who’ve been told they do, and want a straight answer on what’s failing, what it costs, and whether it can wait. Call (914) 537-8463 and Corrine or one of our techs will talk you through it.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

DuraFlex makes a lot of relining components, and over the years we’ve learned how their aluminum and stainless parts behave once they’ve lived through a few Stamford winters. Here’s what actually shows up when the camera goes down:

  • DuraFlex 304 stainless caps losing their mesh to salt air and freeze-thaw. Stamford sits close enough to Long Island Sound that cap mesh gets eaten faster than inland. The mesh corrodes first, then birds and squirrels find the gap. We replace the cap with a fresh DuraFlex unit or a heavier-gauge equivalent, and we show you the old one in the photo record.
  • DuraFlex crown-to-liner junction leaks. The crown is the concrete or mortar slab at the top of the chimney. On DuraFlex retrofits we often see the crown failing right where the liner passes through it, because the original crown was never re-formed around the new liner size. Water gets in there every time it rains. We build a proper crown form, coat it, and seal that junction with a flexible crown repair compound, not a cheap hardware-store patch.
  • DuraFlex multi-flue caps installed without a proper base plate. A multi-flue cap has to sit on a full-width base plate, but we regularly find them screwed directly to the crown lip with gaps underneath. This is a Stamford-specific issue because our winter rain and ice get blown sideways into those gaps. We cut and fit the correct base plate, then re-mount the cap so it drains outward.
  • DuraFlex aluminum liner tops crushed or deformed by falling limbs. Older Stamford neighborhoods near Cove Island Park and North Stamford have mature trees, and a heavy limb in a windstorm will take out a stainless cap or deform an aluminum liner top. If the liner top is deformed, the cap no longer seats, and the chimney draws poorly. We inspect with the camera first, then replace the damaged section and cap together if the liner itself is compromised.
  • DuraFlex connector bands with hairline splits from thermal cycling. The stainless clamp bands at the crown can stress-crack after hundreds of heat-up/cool-down cycles. It’s a slow leak, not a dramatic one, until brown staining shows up in the attic or the flue walls. We replace the band, verify the cap seat, and document everything with photos.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown Process

Every DuraFlex job follows the same sequence, whether it’s a simple cap swap or full crown rebuild. Nothing is left to guesswork.

  1. 1
You call (914) 537-8463. A live person answers and schedules the visit. We text you the name of your tech and the arrival window.
  2. 2
Camera down the flue first. Before we touch a cap or crown, we run the camera. You see what we see. Corrine walks you through the footage on-site.
  3. 3
We measure and check the liner diameter, flue count, and crown condition. DuraFlex jobs have specific sizing needs. We confirm what’s there before discussing what’s next.
  4. 4
Written scope, written price, parts decision. We show you whether OEM DuraFlex or an equivalent aftermarket part is the right call for your budget, in writing. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard: a written price before any work starts.
  5. 5
The repair. Cap install, crown coating, or full crown form-and-pour, done by a uniformed tech who knows DuraFlex hardware.
  6. 6
Photo documentation and the Done Right Promise. You get a photo record of the finished work, a written warranty, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right.

What DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown Costs in Stamford

Here’s the honest range. No “call for pricing.” The written price you get is the written price you pay.

Scenario Typical Price Range
Single-flue DuraFlex cap replacement (standard stainless) $240-$420
Multi-flue cap installation incl. base plate $480-$680
Crown repair / coating (minor spalling, hairline cracks) $450-$750
Full crown form-and-pour rebuild $850-$1,100
Liner top repair + cap replacement (combined) $520-$900

What moves the price: how many flues, whether we have to re-form the crown, whether the existing cap base plate is salvageable, and the liner diameter. If you have a competitor’s written estimate, bring it. We’ll give you a free second opinion. Call (914) 537-8463 for an exact number.
